The Sindh High Court has directed Private Schools to collect June and July fees separately. Parents will have until the end of each month to pay the respective fees.
The court issued these directions while hearing a petition challenging summer vacation fee collection practices. The petition also raised concerns about the compulsory purchase of school books and uniforms.
Under the court’s order, Private Schools must issue fee notices in May instead of April. Parents must pay June fees by June 30 and July fees by July 30.
Private Schools Told to Change Fee Collection Schedule
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer informed the court about the fee collection practices of some schools. He said schools had started sending fee notices to parents in April.
According to the lawyer, some schools were demanding payment for both June and July at once. He argued that collecting both months’ fees together was unjustified because regular classes remain suspended during summer vacations.
The petition challenged the practice of collecting summer fees in advance. It sought the court’s intervention over the timing and method of these payments.
A government lawyer and a representative of the Directorate of Private Schools also appeared before the court. They were present to address the concerns raised in the petition.
The court subsequently clarified the payment schedule. Its directions require schools to give parents separate deadlines for the two months.
Court Addresses Compulsory Books and Uniforms
The petition also challenged the compulsory purchase of books and uniforms. Parents raised concerns about requirements linked to buying school supplies.
The Sindh High Court directed the Directorate of Private Schools and other concerned parties to discuss the matter. It ordered them to consult each other and work toward resolving the dispute.
The court gave the parties two weeks to hold a meeting. They must discuss the issue and seek a solution through consultation.
The direction places responsibility on the concerned parties to address the concerns surrounding compulsory purchases. However, the court did not announce a final solution to the books and uniforms dispute during this hearing.
Petition Disposed of After Issuing Directions
After issuing directions on summer fee payments and school supplies, the court disposed of the petition.
The order provides separate payment deadlines for June and July fees. It also requires Private Schools to issue fee notices in May rather than April.
Under the schedule, June fees are due by June 30. July fees must be paid by July 30.
