The Punjab Women Development Department has opened registration for the She Threads Program 2026. The initiative offers free vocational training and a monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000 to eligible women.
The program aims to help women develop practical skills and improve their employment opportunities. It primarily targets women from rural and less-developed areas of Punjab.
The initiative focuses on textile and garment manufacturing, where trained participants can pursue jobs or self-employment. The government is implementing the program in collaboration with the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF).
Under the scheme, selected candidates will receive three months of specialised industrial training. Participants will also receive financial support throughout their training period.
She Threads Program 2026 Eligibility Criteria
According to the department’s program information, applicants must be between 18 and 45 years old. Earlier government announcements also mentioned Middle school as the minimum educational qualification.
Applicants must not have previously been associated with the factory where they seek training. Candidates should confirm the latest eligibility requirements with their chosen training centre before applying.
The program is designed for women interested in gaining technical skills and entering the workforce. It may also help participants develop the experience needed for future employment in the textile industry.
Free Training Courses and Financial Benefits
The She Threads Program 2026 provides training in different areas of textile and garment production. Available courses include Industrial Stitching Machine Operator and Apparel Supervisor.
Selected participants will receive Rs. 15,000 per month during the three-month training period. The courses are free, and transportation assistance is also included under the program.
Participants will gain practical experience with industrial equipment and garment manufacturing processes. The training also covers workplace communication, teamwork, and digital financial literacy.
After completing their courses, trainees will receive assistance in finding employment with participating textile companies. This support aims to connect trained women with potential employers in the industry.
