Samsung Makes a Breakthrough in Next-Generation Batteries for Phones and Electric Vehicles

Samsung’s battery group, like many other big technological corporations, is aggressively developing novel solid-state batteries. According to those acquainted with the situation, the business has made substantial progress in this area.

Solid-state batteries have various advantages, including increased energy density, which allows for bigger capacities to be housed in the same volume. Furthermore, they aid in the long-term longevity of batteries.

Xiaomi has also acknowledged its efforts in solid-state battery research and development by disclosing advancements. QuantumScape, on the other hand, appears as one of the most promising firms in this industry. Notably, QuantumScape has already formed partnerships with specific automobile manufacturers and has delivered prototype samples for testing to its partners.

Samsung has been working on an oxide-based solid-state battery prototype for over a decade. According to reports, the corporation has lately made a substantial advance in this field. What’s noteworthy is that Samsung’s two disparate groups will work independently to combine this new technology into practical items.

Samsung’s Electro-Mechanics department will focus on developing solid-state batteries for smart and mobile devices. Samsung SDI, on the other hand, will concentrate on the development of a solid-state battery based on sulphide electrolytes, with a primary focus on the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
