Realme 12 Pro Debuts With Periscope Zoom And Enhancements

The Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+, the latest entries in the company’s number series, have officially debuted, signaling a noteworthy upgrade with the introduction of telephoto lenses – a first for this lineup. The launch event took place in India, showcasing not only technical advancements but also a visually striking variant resulting from a collaboration between Realme and Swiss watchmaker Ollivier Saveo.

The Realme 12 Pro features a 6.7-inch OLED display with curved edges, boasting a 120Hz refresh rate, DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz. Powering the device is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, equipped with a 2.2 GHz CPU and an Adreno 710 GPU.

In terms of battery life, the Realme 12 Pro inherits the 5,000 mAh battery from its predecessor, the 11 Pro. This powerhouse supports 67W SuperVOOC charging, promising remarkable charging speeds. Official sources state that reaching the halfway mark takes a mere 19 minutes, while a complete recharge can be accomplished in just 48 minutes.

The primary camera setup on the Realme 12 Pro includes a 50MP main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) utilizing a sizable 1/2-inch Sony IMX882 sensor. Complementing this is a 2x telephoto shooter featuring a 32MP Sony IMX709 sensor. The device also offers an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies. Software-wise, it comes with Android 14 and Realme UI 5.0.

Notably, both color variants feature vegan leather backs, resembling the renowned Rolex brand, although there is no official partnership. The official color names for these options are Submariner Blue and Navigator Beige.

The Realme 12 Pro starts at $310, offering 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage, while the 256 GB version costs $325.

The Realme 12 Pro+ retains the same 6.7-inch OLED display with a peak brightness of 950 nits. It is also equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery supporting rapid 67W charging, a slight downgrade from its predecessor’s 100W rate.

Under the hood, the Realme 12 Pro+ is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, complemented by a choice of 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM and varying storage options of 128 GB or 256 GB.

In the photography domain, the Realme 12 Pro+ features a 50MP primary camera with a Sony IMX890 sensor, distinguishing itself with a larger f/1.8 aperture for improved low-light performance and dynamic range. It also incorporates a 64MP periscope telephoto lens offering a 3x optical zoom, characterized by its f/2.6 aperture, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and a 1/2-inch OV64B sensor by OmniVision.

The device also includes an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and an upgraded 32MP Sony sensor for selfies. It runs on Android 14 with Realme UI 5.0.

The Realme 12 Pro+ comes in two distinctive color variants, Submariner Blue and Navigator Beige, with pricing varying based on configurations. The 8 GB/128 GB variant is priced at $360, the 8 GB/256 GB option is available for $385, and the top-tier 12 GB/256 GB model can be acquired for $410.
