Punjab Schools To Return To Regular Schedules Starting February 1

The education department of Punjab has decided to extend the previously announced school timings for the winter season until January 31, 2024, considering the prevailing weather conditions. According to the updated schedule, both public and private schools will open at 9:30 am and conclude at 2:30 pm on weekdays. Additionally, on Fridays, the operating hours will be from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

A recent notification from the authorities has confirmed that schools will return to their regular timings from February 1. The notification stated, “In continuation of this department’s notification of even No. dated 08.01.2024, the timings already notified are hereby extended till 31st January 2024, in all public and private schools across the province. The schools shall resume regular timings from 01-.02-2024.” The directive emphasized strict compliance from all Chief Executive Officers (DEA) in Punjab and the Heads/Principals of both public and private schools.

On January 8, the interim government of Punjab had initially modified the school timings for all state-run and private schools in the province for the winter season. According to the temporary adjustment, classes were scheduled to begin at 9:30 am during the period from January 10 to January 22.
