The Punjab government will conduct its annual school census for the 2026–27 academic year from October 21 to 31. The exercise will cover approximately 38,000 government schools across the province.
The school census aims to collect information from government educational institutions for the new academic year. The process will involve teachers and education officials who have been assigned responsibilities for completing the exercise.
The Program Monitoring and Implementation Unit (PMIU) has issued an online training schedule to prepare staff for the upcoming census. The training will help nominated teachers and officials understand the procedures required to complete the data collection process.
Training Schedule for Teachers and Education Officials
According to the announced schedule, master trainers were scheduled to receive training on October 16. Online training sessions for information technology (IT) teachers, Assistant Education Officers (AEOs), and head teachers were planned for October 17 to 19.
These sessions are intended to prepare participants for their respective roles during the school census. The authorities have directed all nominated teachers and officials to attend their assigned training sessions.
The training programme covers staff from different levels of government education institutions. This includes high schools, higher secondary schools, primary schools, and elementary schools.
Male and female IT teachers nominated from each tehsil will work as master trainers. They will help prepare relevant staff for the census process and its digital requirements.
The training will also include heads of mosque-based schools. This approach will ensure that officials from various types of government educational institutions receive the necessary guidance before data collection begins.
Trial Exercise Scheduled Before Census
A trial exercise is scheduled for October 19 and 20 to prepare the census module. This preliminary activity will help prepare the system before the province-wide school census officially begins.
The trial will take place shortly before the main data collection period. The government plans to complete the entire exercise by October 31.
Training and trial activities are important parts of the preparation process. They are intended to help nominated staff understand the procedures and complete their assigned tasks within the given timeframe.
Deadline Set for October 31
The Punjab government has directed all nominated teachers and education officials to participate in their scheduled training sessions. Their involvement is necessary to support the timely completion of the census.
The school census will cover around 38,000 government schools during the 2026–27 academic year. The exercise is expected to gather school-related information through the designated census process.
The October 31 deadline gives education officials a limited period to complete the province-wide activity. The training schedule and preliminary trial are intended to prepare participants before the formal exercise starts.
