Private schools in Punjab have requested permission from the provincial government to organize summer camps during the upcoming summer vacations.
School administrations say the camps are necessary to cover academic losses caused by recent unexpected holidays in schools across the province.
According to representatives of Private schools, many students were unable to complete their syllabus on time due to repeated disruptions in regular classes. They believe summer camps can help students continue their studies and improve learning progress before the next academic session.
Officials from several institutions proposed that the camps should be held during early morning hours. They suggested timings from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM to protect students from extreme heat during the summer season.
Private schools said the proposed camps would focus on important academic subjects and revision activities. School owners added that the additional classes could help students prepare better for examinations and reduce learning gaps created during the academic year.
Education sector representatives also explained that many schools faced difficulties in completing coursework because of unscheduled closures. They said summer camps would provide extra study time and help students regain academic momentum.
Sources in the Punjab School Education Department said private educational institutions are generally allowed to arrange one-month summer camps every year.
Department officials stated that this year’s final approval has not yet been issued. They added that permission for the camps will be granted after consultation with relevant authorities.
According to officials, the proposal is currently under review and will require approval from Maryam Nawaz before implementation.
The education department is expected to consider weather conditions, student safety, and academic needs before making a final decision.
Private schools across Punjab are now waiting for the government’s response regarding the proposed camps. Many parents and teachers are also closely following the decision, as it could affect students’ academic preparation during the vacation period.
Education experts believe that structured summer learning programs can help students maintain study routines and improve academic performance. However, they also stress the importance of ensuring safe timings and proper facilities during extreme weather conditions.
