Punjab Police Arrests PSL Fans For Political Chants

During the inaugural match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday, Punjab Police took action against a political party supporter who was chanting slogans in favor of a specific political group.

The match, featuring defending champions Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, witnessed disturbance in the crowd as some fans began expressing their political allegiance through slogans. In response, Punjab Police intervened and conducted a crackdown within Gaddafi Stadium to address the situation.

As a result of their actions, Punjab Police removed a citizen from the stadium for chanting slogans in support of the political party associated with former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The incident reflects the heightened political fervor and polarization among Pakistani citizens following the recent general elections.

The inaugural PSL match commenced with a splendid opening ceremony featuring performances by Noori, Ali Zafar, Aima Baig, and the legendary Arif Lohar, creating an upbeat atmosphere for the audience. The National Anthem, beautifully rendered by Natasha Baig and the Leo brothers, instilled a sense of pride among the large crowd in attendance.

Having won the toss, Islamabad United chose to field first, but Lahore Qalandars delivered a magnificent batting performance. They posted a total of 195-5 in the first innings, courtesy of impressive half-centuries from Rassie Van der Dussen and Sahibzada Farhan.
