The Government of Punjab and Punjab Information Technology Board have opened company registrations for the Chief Minister IT Internship Program.
The program has been launched under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. It aims to provide young people with practical industry experience and prepare them for careers in the IT sector.
Under the program, IT companies, BPOs, ISPs, telecom companies and IT departments of banks can register as partner companies. A total of 30,000 internship opportunities will be offered under the initiative.
Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000. Participating companies will also receive financial support of Rs. 12,500 per intern every month.
Registered companies will have access to pre-screened young talent. They will be able to select interns according to their business requirements and available positions.
The internship program is designed to give young people hands-on experience with modern technologies and industry-standard tools. Interns will also work in professional environments and gain practical knowledge.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic education and market requirements. It is expected to help young graduates develop skills needed for employment in Punjab’s growing IT sector.
Companies interested in joining the program must meet certain eligibility requirements. They must be registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board or another relevant regulatory authority.
Partner companies must also have an operational office in Punjab. They are required to provide adequate infrastructure and a suitable working environment for interns.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the program would strengthen links between the IT industry and young talent. He added that it would expand opportunities for practical training.
According to him, the initiative will also contribute to developing a skilled workforce for Punjab’s growing technology sector.
The program is expected to provide companies with access to young professionals while giving interns valuable workplace experience. It could also help improve employment opportunities for skilled youth across the province.
