Punjab Launches Free E-Bike Scheme for Girls

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the Electric Bike Scheme 2026, under which 100,000 electric bikes will be distributed to students across the province, with female students receiving bikes free of cost and male students offered interest-free installment plans.

The initiative aims to make commuting to educational institutions more affordable, safer and environmentally friendly while encouraging the use of electric vehicles.

Free e-bikes for female students

Under the scheme, female students will receive electric bikes at no cost, while male students can purchase them through easy, interest-free installment plans.

The Punjab government says the program is designed to reduce transportation challenges for students and promote clean energy.

Eligibility criteria

Students applying for the Punjab Electric Bike Scheme 2026 must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old (some guidelines mention an upper age limit of 35 years).
  • Be enrolled as a regular student at an HEC-recognized degree college or university.
  • Hold a valid Punjab domicile.
  • Possess either a motorcycle driving license or a learner’s permit.
  • Not own any registered motor vehicle.
  • Only one electric bike will be allotted per eligible family.

How to apply online

Applications will only be accepted through the official Punjab government portal.

The application process includes:

  1. Visit the official registration portal once applications open.
  2. Register or log in using your CNIC and student details.
  3. Complete the online application form.
  4. Upload all required documents.
  5. Submit the application.
  6. Wait for verification and computerized balloting.
  7. Track your application status online.

Authorities have advised students to avoid unofficial websites or agents claiming to guarantee selection.

Applicants will generally need:

  • CNIC or B-Form
  • Student ID card
  • Bonafide certificate (if required)
  • Punjab domicile certificate
  • Motorcycle driving license or learner’s permit
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Additional family documents or affidavit, if requested
