Punjab Declares Public Holiday For Next Week

The Punjab provincial government has officially declared a public holiday for the Christian community on April 1, 2024, in observance of the “Day after Easter.”

A notification stated, “It is notified for general information that a Public Holiday shall be observed on 15 April 2024 (Monday) on account of the ‘Day after Easter’ only for the Christian Community throughout the province.”

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had announced financial assistance for the community on Easter. Under this announcement, each Christian family across the 36 districts of Punjab will receive Rs. 5,000.

Furthermore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed district administrations to ensure transparent distribution of the Easter grant.

In Sindh, the provincial government has also announced two public holidays in the first week of April. One notification declares April 1st as a public holiday for the Christian community in honor of the “Day After Easter.” In another notification, the government has designated April 4, 2024, as a public holiday to commemorate the 45th Martyrdom anniversary of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, across the province.
