The fake notification is dated August 15, 2026, and carries the subject “Celebration of Basant 2027 in the Province of Punjab.”
The fabricated document claims that Basant will be celebrated across Punjab under new safety rules and regulations.
It also mentions an expected celebration date during the last week of January 2027.
The fake notification further calls for arrangements to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration across the province.
The document lists several purported safety measures for the alleged Basant celebrations.
These measures reportedly include the use of approved kite string and a ban on dangerous Chinese or metallic string.
It also mentions designated locations for kite flying and arrangements for security and first aid.
According to the fake document, district administrations and police would be responsible for implementing the proposed safety measures.
The fabricated notification also carries a purported compliance deadline of December 30, 2026.
However, the Punjab Home Department has clearly stated that no such notification has been issued.
The department urged citizens not to believe or share unverified government documents circulating online.
It also advised people to confirm important announcements through its official communication channels.
Authorities have repeatedly warned citizens about fake notifications and misleading information shared through social media.
