Punjab government has officially announced public holidays across the province for Eid-ul-Azha 2026, providing residents with an extended break during the festive period.
According to an official notification issued by the provincial government, Eid holidays in Punjab will be observed from May 26 to May 29. The holidays will fall on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Government offices and related institutions across the province will remain closed during the announced holiday period. Authorities stated that all departments working under the provincial administration will follow the official Eid-ul-Azha holiday schedule.
Officials further explained that when the four Eid holidays are combined with the regular Saturday and Sunday weekend, people in Punjab will effectively enjoy a total six-day break. The extended holiday period is expected to allow families more time to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha, travel to their hometowns, and spend time with relatives.
The announcement has created excitement among government employees and citizens who are preparing for Eid celebrations across the province.
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government also announced public holidays for Eid-ul-Azha. According to a notification issued by the provincial chief secretary, official Eid holidays in KP will also be observed from Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, May 29.
The KP government stated that all government offices, educational institutions, and public sector departments across the province would remain closed during the Eid holidays.
Authorities in both provinces are also expected to finalize special arrangements regarding transport, security, cleanliness, and public services before Eid-ul-Azha to manage the large movement of people during the holiday season.
With the extended break, many citizens are expected to travel to different cities and villages to celebrate Eid with family members. Transport terminals, bus stations, railway stations, and markets are also likely to witness increased activity ahead of the holidays.
