Justice Qazi Faez Isa – Background

Justice Isa was born in Quetta on October 26, 1959, the son of the late Qazi Mohammad Isa of Pishin, who was at the forefront of the Pakistan movement, and the grandson of Qazi Jalaluddin, the prime minister of the Khanate of Kalat in pre-partition India.

In his early years, Justice Isa was a member of the Bar of England and Wales and was enrolled as a Supreme Court counsel from Balochistan.

He has been practising law for almost 27 years, appearing before all of the high courts, the Federal Shariat Court, and the Supreme Court.

Later, he was a member of the Balochistan High Court Bar Association, the Sindh High Court Bar Association, and a Life Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association, as well as the chief justice of Balochistan at various times.

When the high courts and the Supreme Court requested it, the jurist served as amicus curiae and even conducted international arbitrations.

His decisions indicate his strong support for adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law.

The senior judge is also the creator of a system of transparent induction of high court officials and personnel through advertisement.

Justice Isa took his oath as a Supreme Court of Pakistan judge on September 5, 2014.
