PMD Forecasts Rain and Hailstorms in Several Regions

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain, thunderstorms, dust storms and hailstorms across various parts of the country as a strong westerly weather system enters Pakistan. According to the latest advisory, the weather system is expected to approach the upper regions on June 2 and remain active until June 5, bringing unstable weather conditions to many districts.

The PMD stated that scattered dust and thunderstorm-related rainfall, including isolated heavy downpours and hailstorms, is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat and several districts of Punjab from June 2 to June 5. Cities expected to receive rain include Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan and many surrounding areas.

Authorities have warned that heavy rainfall and hailstorms may cause temporary disruptions in daily life, including reduced visibility during dust storms, urban flooding in low-lying areas and damage to vulnerable infrastructure. Residents have been advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take precautionary measures during severe weather events.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected in areas including Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Bagh, Kotli, Mirpur and Bhimber from June 2 to June 5. Some locations may also experience heavy rainfall and hailstorms during this period.

The PMD further predicted rain and thunderstorms in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Swat, Dir, Malakand, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan. These weather conditions are expected to continue with occasional gaps through June 5.

Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan is likely to receive rain and thunderstorms from June 4 to June 6 in areas such as Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Astore, Diamir and Ghanche. Upper Sindh districts including Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur and Shaheed Benazirabad are also expected to witness dust storms and thunderstorm-related rainfall between June 2 and June 4.
