The prices of petrol and high-speed diesel will remain unchanged for the next three days. The current rates will stay in effect until Monday.
Petrol will continue to be sold at Rs. 325.43 per litre. The price of high-speed diesel will remain at Rs. 383.95 per litre during the period.
The decision comes after fuel prices were revised on Thursday. Petrol was increased by Rs. 0.45 per litre, while diesel became Rs. 1.16 per litre more expensive.
The latest rates are part of the government’s daily fuel pricing system. Under the system, petroleum prices can be revised according to changes in market conditions.
Since the introduction of daily fuel price revisions, petrol has increased by Rs. 13.13 per litre. High-speed diesel has recorded a much larger increase of Rs. 54.44 per litre.
Petrol had reached Rs. 336.15 per litre on July 30 before gradually declining in early August. The price later fell to Rs. 324.98 per litre on August 12.
Diesel also recorded several fluctuations during the period. It reached Rs. 393.04 per litre on July 30 before declining to Rs. 382.79 per litre on August 12.
The latest three-day price freeze means consumers will not face another immediate increase or decrease. The existing rates will remain applicable during the stated period.
The government introduced daily petroleum price adjustments in July. The system was introduced to allow domestic fuel prices to respond more quickly to changes in international oil prices and other market factors.
For consumers, petrol and diesel prices directly affect transportation costs. Changes in fuel prices can also influence the cost of goods and services across the country.
Motorists will therefore continue to pay Rs. 325.43 per litre for petrol and Rs. 383.95 per litre for high-speed diesel until Monday.
Any further change in prices will depend on the next revision under the daily pricing mechanism. Consumers are advised to check official announcements for updated rates after the current period ends.
