Pakistan qualifies for ICC T20 World cup 2024

As the highest-ranked team outside of the six direct qualifiers, Pakistan has qualified for the ICC Women‘s T20 World Cup 2024.

Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, India, and the West Indies served as the tournament’s direct qualifiers for the 2023 edition.

In addition to earning a spot in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings as of February 27, 2023, Pakistan also qualified as the host nation. The final two seats will be filled through a Global Qualifier, which will take place in early 2024 but whose dates and locations have not yet been determined.

Sri Lanka and Ireland, rated eighth and tenth respectively in the current rankings, failed to earn direct qualifying for this year’s event.

Australia defeated South Africa by 19 runs in the Women’s T20 World Cup final at Newlands to win the tournament for the sixth time. Beth Mooney, who scored an unbeaten 74 in a total of 156 for six, played a key role in leading the Australian innings.

South Africa was limited to 137 for six despite Laura Wolvaardt’s 61 off 48 balls as they were unable to match the necessary run rate.
