Pakistan has named women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana and rising squash player Noor Zaman as the country’s flag bearers for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) announced that the two athletes will lead the national contingent during the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games on September 19.
The announcement places two prominent young athletes at the front of Pakistan’s delegation as the country prepares to compete across multiple sporting disciplines at the continental event.
According to the POA, Noor Zaman from squash and Fatima Sana, captain of Pakistan’s women’s cricket team, will jointly carry the national flag during the ceremony.

Unlike previous editions, organisers have not established a conventional athletes’ village for the event.
Instead, temporary container-style accommodation has been arranged for some athletes and officials, while other participants will stay in hotels.
Some athletes and officials are also expected to be accommodated in Tokyo, adding another layer to the arrangements required for the large international delegation.
Cruise Ship to House Thousands of Participants
One of the more unusual accommodation arrangements involves the Costa Serena cruise ship, which is expected to house between 4,000 and 5,000 athletes.
The ship docked off the coast of Nagoya on Tuesday and is expected to remain there until the conclusion of the Games on October 4.
The arrangement has been introduced as organisers manage accommodation requirements amid the expected increase in the overall number of participants.
With thousands of athletes and officials arriving in Japan, accommodation has become an important logistical issue ahead of the opening ceremony.
