Pakistan Faces India In U19 Asia Cup Matchup

In Dubai, Pakistan and India are set to clash in a highly anticipated U19 Asia Cup 2023 match at the ICC Cricket Academy Ground today. Pakistan’s U19 team made a strong start to their Asia Cup campaign, securing a notable seven-wicket victory against Nepal U19 at the ICC Cricket Academy.

A standout performance from Zeeshan played a pivotal role as he dismantled Nepal’s batting lineup, claiming six wickets for a mere 19 runs. This remarkable achievement marked the second-best bowling figures for a Pakistani bowler at this level, following Shaheen Shah Afridi’s record in 2018.

Chasing a target of 153 runs, Pakistan faced an initial challenge at 23 for 2. However, skipper Saad Baig and Azan Awais formed an impressive partnership, adding 108 runs off 107 balls to stabilize the innings. Zeeshan’s fiery cameo of 20 runs from eight balls further bolstered Pakistan’s chase, contributing to their successful pursuit in just 26.2 overs with a net run rate of +2.770.

Looking back at their previous encounter, Pakistan U19 emerged victorious against India U19 in 2021, with Mohammad Shahzad’s exceptional 81 in pursuit of a 238-run target earning him the player of the match title.

Head coach Mohammad Yousaf expressed satisfaction with the team’s overall performance, commending the bowlers and praising the solid fifties scored by Saad Baig and Azan Awais.
