The Foreign Minister also called upon international organizations to press India to halt severe and systematic human rights violations in IIOJK and reverse all illegal and unilateral actions taken since August 5, 2019.

In these communications, the Foreign Minister emphasized that, according to international law, domestic legislation and judicial rulings cannot determine the final status of an internationally recognized disputed territory.

He condemned the Indian authorities’ unlawful measures to solidify their occupation of IIOJK and the ongoing suppression of the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Foreign Minister stated that India’s illegal and unilateral actions since August 5, 2019, along with subsequent measures, aim to alter the demographic structure and political landscape of IIOJK. The objective of these unlawful steps is to disempower the Kashmiri community in their own land.

Foreign Minister Jilani Abbas Jilani deemed the recent judgment of the Supreme Court of India a violation of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
