The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has approved a new minimum wage for outsourced employees. The revised monthly salary has been fixed at Rs. 40,700.
According to ARY News, the new wage structure will apply from July 1. The decision follows the federal government’s recent wage increase of Rs. 3,700.
The PAA has instructed outsourcing contractors to implement the revised salary. All eligible outsourced employees must receive the approved amount.
The decision covers workers serving under outsourcing arrangements at airports. Security personnel are also included in the new wage structure.
The revised salary will apply to existing outsourcing agreements. It will also cover agreements that are extended in the future.
Contractors have been directed to follow the new wage requirements. They must ensure that workers receive their salaries according to the approved structure.
The PAA has also issued instructions regarding employee welfare payments. Contractors must ensure payments are made to the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI).
They must also fulfil social security obligations for outsourced employees. These requirements are intended to ensure workers receive their entitled benefits.
PAA and CAA Headquarters to Move to Islamabad
In a separate development, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and PAA are preparing to relocate their headquarters.
Both organisations currently have their main headquarters in Karachi. Their offices are located at Karachi Airport.
The headquarters will be moved to Islamabad Airport. A temporary headquarters will first be established at the Islamabad facility.
The temporary setup will support the organisations during the initial relocation process. Officials will use it until the permanent arrangements are finalised.
A seven-member committee has been formed to manage the relocation. The committee includes officials from both the PAA and CAA.
Deputy Director General Airports Authority Sadiq Rehman will lead the committee. He will oversee the process and related administrative arrangements.
The committee will also decide the location of the temporary headquarters. It will coordinate the transfer of both organisations.
The CAA has been directed to move to the temporary headquarters by November. The PAA must complete its relocation by December.
The relocation will not affect regional offices across Pakistan. These offices will continue their regular operations.
The changes mark a major administrative shift for both aviation authorities. Meanwhile, the new wage decision will directly affect outsourced airport workers.
