Rs1.11 Per Unit Adjustment Approved
Electricity consumers across Pakistan will pay an additional Rs1.11 per unit in their October 2026 electricity bills under a fuel cost adjustment approved by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
The adjustment has been approved for electricity consumed in August 2026. NEPRA approved a fuel cost adjustment of Rs1.1086 per kilowatt-hour, lower than the Rs1.7267 per unit initially requested by the Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guarantee (CPPA-G).
The adjustment reflects the difference between the actual fuel cost of electricity and the reference fuel cost used for billing purposes.
Actual and Reference Fuel Costs
According to NEPRA, the actual fuel cost for electricity generated during August stood at Rs8.2084 per unit. The reference fuel cost was Rs7.0998 per unit.
The difference between the two figures resulted in the approved fuel cost adjustment of Rs1.1086 per unit.
This means consumers covered by the adjustment will see an additional charge based on the number of electricity units they consumed during August.
Who Will Pay the Additional Charge?
The additional amount will apply to consumers served by former WAPDA distribution companies as well as K-Electric.
The adjustment will apply across consumer categories, subject to the exclusions specified by NEPRA. Lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations and prepaid electricity consumers who have opted for prepaid tariffs will not be charged under this adjustment.
The adjustment will also apply to electricity consumed under the incremental consumption package.
When Will the Charge Appear?
The Rs1.1086 per unit adjustment will be included in October 2026 electricity bills and will be calculated according to the electricity consumed by customers during August.
Consumers do not need to pay a separate bill for the adjustment. The amount will be included directly in their regular electricity bills.
If an electricity bill is issued before NEPRA’s decision is formally notified, the adjustment may instead be included in the following month’s bill.
The latest decision means consumers who fall under the applicable categories should expect an additional charge in their October bills based on their August electricity consumption.
