Five young men in their 20s were killed early Monday after their car crashed into a road divider on Multan’s Bosan Road, struck the wall of a nearby plot and caught fire, Rescue 1122 said.
The victims, all residents of Shujaabad, died at the scene following the accident, which occurred at around 4am. The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and the dangers of high-speed driving.
Car Hits Divider Before Catching Fire
According to Rescue 1122, the Toyota Corolla was travelling at high speed when it struck a road divider. The vehicle then crashed into the wall of a nearby plot and caught fire.
All five occupants sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, the rescue service said.
According to the police report, the accident took place at approximately 4am. A passerby alerted the control room at around 4:15am, prompting emergency personnel to respond.
Victims Identified as Residents of Shujaabad
Rescue 1122 identified three of the deceased as men aged 22, 23 and 28. The ages of the remaining two victims were estimated to be around 24 or 25 years.
All five victims had sustained head injuries, according to the rescue service.
The victims were residents of Shujaabad, a town near Multan. Their deaths have turned the early-morning journey into a devastating tragedy for their families.
Firefighters Control Blaze
Following the crash, firefighters brought the vehicle fire under control while rescue personnel carried out emergency operations at the scene.
The bodies were subsequently shifted to Nishtar Hospital in Multan for the required procedures.
The incident involved a high-speed collision, but further details about the circumstances leading to the crash were not provided in the initial report.
Road Accidents Remain a Serious Concern in Punjab
The Multan crash highlights the continuing risks faced by road users across Punjab.
According to figures previously reported by Rescue 1122, the province recorded 43,160 road traffic crashes during May, resulting in 23,013 serious injuries and 434 deaths.
The large number of accidents has prompted concerns among emergency service officials about road safety and the need to reduce dangerous driving.
High speeds can leave drivers with less time to react to obstacles and make collisions more severe. Following speed limits, remaining alert and driving according to road conditions are important steps in reducing the risk of fatal crashes.
A Tragic Reminder of Road Safety
The deaths of five young men in a single accident have underscored the devastating consequences of road crashes.
As emergency services continue responding to accidents across Punjab, the incident on Bosan Road serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and caution on the road.
The victims’ families are now facing the loss of five young lives, while the circumstances surrounding the crash remain a matter of concern.
