Manzoor Pashteen Detained In Chaman

Manzoor Pashteen, the leader of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), was arrested by the police on Monday in the Chaman district of Balochistan. A confrontation reportedly occurred between Pashteen’s security guards and the police, with reports of gunfire.

The deputy commissioner revealed that armed individuals accompanying Pashteen refused to stop their vehicle and fired at the police, Levies, and Frontier Corps (FC) security personnel conducting routine checks. In retaliation, the security forces targeted the tires of Pashteen’s vehicle. Pashteen and his associates managed to escape, and an FIR was filed against him.

According to the PTM statement, Pashteen was en route to Quetta after participating in a sit-in organized by the All Parties Tajir Mehnat Kash. The incident occurred near the Chaman Press Club, where gunshots were reportedly fired at Pashteen’s car. One woman was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment. The PTM spokeswoman stated that Pashteen and his group voluntarily returned to Chaman and surrendered to the police.
