Legal Action To Be Sought Against CM Maryam Nawaz For Police Uniform

A lawyer has submitted a petition to the sessions court, urging the registration of a case against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for wearing the Punjab police uniform during an event.

Earlier on the same day, the chief minister attended a police passing out parade in Lahore, where she appeared dressed in police attire. Upon her arrival, she received a guard of honor and later presented awards to the top graduates from the Police Training College.

The petitioner, Syed Waqar Ali Shah, a high court advocate, filed the petition, asserting that Maryam Nawaz lacked the authority to wear the police uniform as she is neither a government official nor a member of the provincial police force.

Shah lodged the petition under section 22-A and B of the Criminal Procedure Code (CR.P.C) for the initiation of a criminal case against Maryam Nawaz.

The petition identifies the Station House Officer (SHO) of Old Anarkali police station as a respondent in the case.
