Lahore traffic police have launched a crackdown against one-wheeling, speeding and groups of riders accused of creating fear on the city’s roads. During a special operation near Defence Mor, two suspected one-wheelers were arrested and cases were registered against them.
According to police, the riders allegedly used to come out on roads late at night in groups. They would reportedly flee whenever they spotted police personnel.
The arrests were made during a special blockade and combing operation conducted in the Airport Circle area. The suspects have been identified as Hamza and Gulzaib. Cases against them were registered at South Cantt Police Station.
Special Teams Deployed at Major Roads
Lahore traffic police have deployed special teams at several locations to prevent dangerous riding and road violations.
These locations include CBD Boulevard, Defence Boulevard, Defence Phase 6 and Canal Road.
The teams will monitor roads and take action against riders involved in one-wheeling, overspeeding and other dangerous activities.
One-wheeling involves riding a motorcycle on its rear wheel while lifting the front wheel off the road. The stunt can cause serious accidents and put pedestrians, motorists and other road users at risk.
124 Cases Registered in Six Months
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said that one-wheeling, speeding and overspeeding would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He revealed that traffic police had registered cases against 124 one-wheelers during the past six months.
The CTO also warned that hooliganism and activities that create fear on public roads would not be allowed. He said protecting the lives and property of citizens remained the department’s top priority.
Police Warn Dangerous Riders
The latest operation is part of efforts to improve road safety and prevent dangerous motorcycle stunts across Lahore.
Riding motorcycles in groups at high speed and performing stunts on public roads can lead to serious injuries and damage to vehicles. Such activities can also make roads unsafe for families, pedestrians and other commuters.
Traffic police have indicated that enforcement will continue at major roads and sensitive locations.
The department has urged citizens to follow traffic laws and avoid dangerous riding practices. The latest arrests also serve as a warning to those who use public roads for stunts or reckless driving.
