KPK Announces Retake Date of MDCAT Amid Cheating Scandal

The Khyber Medical University in Peshawar has officially declared the new date for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in the province.

According to the announcement, the MDCAT will be re-administered in KPK on November 26, with the responsibility for its organization falling upon the Khyber Medical University (KMU).

In their official statement, the university mentioned that they have sought assistance from the Federal Investigation Agency and the police to ensure transparency in the process. According to KMU, a total of 46,658 students have registered for the upcoming test scheduled for next month.

Previously, the provincial government had suggested November 19 as the date for the retake, but it has now been postponed by one week. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has also received a letter from the KP government regarding this matter.

In their correspondence, the KP government specified that KMU will not collect fees from candidates who were already registered. It should be noted that the Peshawar High Court (PHC) had ordered the re-conduction of the test within six weeks.

The MDCAT in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been mired in controversy after numerous students were discovered cheating using Bluetooth devices, leading to the cancellation of the test and the decision to retake it.

Recently, KMU took stringent action against students caught cheating during the exam, resulting in the suspension of as many as 219 students from taking the MDCAT for a period of two years.
