The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved development projects worth Rs3.23 billion for Jamrud tehsil in Khyber district.
The approved package covers several sectors. These include roads, healthcare, local government, infrastructure and agriculture.
According to project details, the largest allocation has been approved for infrastructure development. Around Rs1.494 billion has been earmarked for various infrastructure works in Jamrud.
The infrastructure package includes pipe culverts, footpaths, drainage systems and model streets. These projects are expected to improve basic facilities and road infrastructure across the tehsil.
Another Rs1.43 billion has been allocated for road restoration and construction. The funds will support several road projects across different areas of Jamrud.
The government has also allocated Rs200 million for local government projects. These funds will support development works aimed at improving municipal and community-level facilities.
Healthcare has also been included in the development package. Around Rs100 million has been approved to upgrade 11 health centers in Jamrud tehsil.
The upgrades are expected to improve healthcare facilities and services for residents. Better infrastructure at local health centers could also improve access to basic medical services.
Agriculture has received another Rs100 million under the approved package. Part of the allocation will be used to establish an olive oil extraction unit.
The project is expected to support agricultural activity in the area. It could also create opportunities for value addition and better use of locally produced olives.
A further Rs1.5 million has been allocated for the solarization of mosques and seminaries. The initiative is aimed at improving energy access through solar power.
The approval is part of the KP government’s wider development spending in the merged districts. Authorities have continued to allocate funds for infrastructure and public services in these areas.
In August, the Provincial Development Working Party approved 26 development projects worth more than Rs130 billion. The approved schemes included road and bridge projects in Jamrud, Bara and Landi Kotal.
The latest Jamrud package focuses on several basic development needs at the tehsil level. Roads and drainage are among the major areas receiving funding.
Local government and healthcare projects are also expected to benefit residents. The agriculture allocation could further support economic activity in the area.
The development package is expected to improve public infrastructure and essential services in Jamrud. It also aims to support local economic and agricultural development.
