During the PSL’s ‘Pitch Side End of Day Studio Show,’ Quetta Gladiators’ player Akeal Hossain expressed his joy over defeating the reigning champions in challenging conditions, particularly on a flat pitch. Hossain, contributing with figures of 4-0-17-2, played a crucial role in restricting Lahore Qalandars to a score below 200. The left-arm spinner had previously been part of Multan Sultans in PSL 8 when they lost the final to Lahore Qalandars.

Akeal Hossain revealed his commitment to enhancing his skill set, specifically focusing on developing a variety of deliveries, including the ‘carrom ball.’ He also praised the legendary West Indian cricketer, Sir Vivian Richards, highlighting Richards’ philosophy of dominating the game regardless of the opposition. Vivian Richards, known for his aggressive approach, maintained a remarkable strike rate of 90 in one-day cricket at a time when the conventional norm was in the 60s/70s.
