Kalam’s snowfall in May breaks 30-year record.

PESHAWAR: In an unusual weather pattern in Pakistan, snowfall, hailstorm, and heavy rains in the Swat district not only reintroduced winter in May, but also broke a 30-year snow record in the hilly resort of Kalam.

Kalam received 17 millimetres of rain, with snowfall reported in the region’s higher elevations, setting a weather record. Snow fell in May for the first time in 30 years, and the rainy spell brought back the winter chill to the area.

Maximum rainfall (27mm) was recorded in Rawlakot in Kashmir, 17mm in Kalam, 22mm in Malam Jabba, 19mm in Hafizabad, 15mm in Joharabad, and 12mm in Chakwal and Mangla in the previous 24 hours.

Maximum temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius were recorded in Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Mohenjo Daro, and Padidan, on the other hand. According to weather forecasters, the majority of the country’s plains will experience dry weather.

Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, on the other hand, will see more rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms, with hailstorms also possible in some areas.
