Jet Fuel, Kerosene Prices Rise Despite Petrol Relief

The government has increased the prices of kerosene oil, light diesel oil, and jet fuel across Pakistan, according to a new official notification issued on Saturday.

Under the latest revision, the price of kerosene oil has been raised by Rs1.71 per litre. Following the increase, the new price of kerosene oil now stands at Rs313.44 per litre compared to the previous rate of Rs311.73.

Similarly, the price of light diesel oil (LDO) has also gone up by Rs1.62 per litre. After the adjustment, LDO will now be available at Rs275.54 per litre instead of the earlier price of Rs273.92 per litre.

The government has also increased aviation or jet fuel prices by Rs2.10 per litre. With the latest hike, the new price of jet fuel has reached Rs332.32 per litre, compared to the previous rate of Rs330.22.

The latest increase in fuel prices comes only days after authorities announced relief in petrol and high-speed diesel prices. Earlier, the government had reduced petrol prices by Rs6 per litre, while high-speed diesel prices were cut by Rs6.80 per litre to provide some relief to consumers facing inflation and rising transportation expenses.

However, the fresh increase in kerosene oil, light diesel, and aviation fuel prices is expected to create additional financial pressure in several sectors. Analysts believe the higher rates may increase transportation and operational costs, especially in remote and rural areas where kerosene oil and light diesel are still commonly used.

Experts also warn that the revised fuel prices could indirectly affect the prices of goods and services due to higher transportation expenses. Aviation sector costs may also increase after the rise in jet fuel prices.

The government regularly reviews petroleum product prices based on changes in international oil markets and domestic economic conditions.
