Israeli airstrikes in Syria’s capital on Monday resulted in the deaths of at least eight individuals, according to reports from state media. Among the casualties was Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander affiliated with the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as indicated by Iranian state media.

Official Syrian news agency SANA stated that the attack targeted the Iranian consulate building situated in the Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus. Witnesses from Agence France-Presse (AFP) confirmed the destruction of the adjacent annex building, located in an upscale area of Damascus. AFP images depicted a substantial pile of debris beside a fenced compound, indicating significant damage.

Reports from Iranian media conveyed that the airstrikes completely demolished the annex building in Damascus, while also confirming the safety of the Iranian ambassador. The incident underscores the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran, highlighting the volatile situation in the region.
