Bahawalpur’s Baghdadul Jadid police station has made a significant arrest involving the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB). The police allegedly discovered crystal meth (ice) and aphrodisiacs in his possession during a routine checkpoint stop. Additionally, objectionable videos and pictures of female officials and students from the university were found on his two mobile phones.

The incident occurred when the CSO’s car was signaled to stop at a checkpoint, but he attempted to flee before being intercepted by the police. A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of 10 grams of crystal meth and aphrodisiacs. He was identified as Syed Ejaz Hussain Shah, a resident of Muhammadia Colony, Bahawalpur, and the CSO of IUB.

The FIR, filed by SI Muhammad Afzal Nawaz, stated that the suspect’s mobile phones contained explicit content involving female officials and students from various departments of IUB. The suspect reportedly confessed to using and selling crystal meth and acknowledged the presence of objectionable content on his mobile phones related to the university.

The Baghdadul Jadid police conducted the search based on intelligence-driven information and their efforts to combat drug peddlers operating in educational institutions. The IUB spokesperson, Shehzad Khalid, did not provide any comments on the matter despite media inquiries.

Syed Ejaz Shah, a retired army major, had been employed by the university several years ago under the former vice-chancellor, and he is officially recognized as the CSO of IUB on the university’s website.
