In the ongoing PSL 9 season at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Islamabad United emerged victorious against Lahore Qalandars, securing a 17-run win.

Lahore’s Rassie Van Der Dussen exhibited brilliance with the bat, notching up an impressive 64 off 44 balls in the first innings. This stellar performance contributed significantly to Lahore’s final score of 162-7. Skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi added to the momentum with a fiery cameo, smashing four maximums in a quick 30-run inning off 14 balls.

Islamabad United faced a challenging start, reduced to 36-5 during the powerplay, courtesy of Zaman Khan’s pivotal wickets, dismissing Salman Ali Agha and skipper Shadab Khan. Rumman Raees showcased excellent bowling skills, concluding with figures of 2-19 in his three overs.

Despite the top-order collapse, Azam Khan’s explosive 29-run contribution attempted to revive Islamabad United’s chances. However, the team fell short, with Faheem Ashraf’s valiant effort of 41 runs off 31 balls in the penultimate over proving insufficient to secure the win.

Zaman Khan’s remarkable spell, claiming 4 wickets while conceding 37 runs, played a crucial role in Lahore Qalandars clinching their first victory of the season.

After this match, Islamabad United retains its position in fourth place on the PSL table with only 7 points, holding a mere one-point advantage over Karachi Kings.

Acknowledging his outstanding innings, Rassie Van Der Dussen was rightfully awarded the Man of the Match for his magical 64 runs.
