Pakistani flags displayed across Islamabad’s Red Zone for Kashmir Black Day featured an incorrectly positioned crescent and star. The issue was noticed on October 27, when the capital was decorated to mark the occasion.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) arranged flags, solidarity banners, posters, and placards along several major roads. These included Constitution Avenue, D-Chowk, and nearby intersections.
However, the displayed flags did not follow the official design of Pakistan’s national flag. The crescent appeared in the wrong orientation, with its pointed ends facing the upper left.
This also affected the position of the star inside the crescent. The design differed from the official national flag used to represent Pakistan.
Pakistan’s national flag features a white crescent positioned diagonally. Its opening faces the upper right, with a five-pointed star placed between its tips.
The incorrectly designed Pakistani flags drew attention because they were displayed in prominent public areas of the federal capital. The national flag represents Pakistan’s identity and sovereignty, making accuracy in its design important.
Pakistani Flags Displayed for Kashmir Black Day
The flag displays were part of Islamabad’s arrangements for Kashmir Black Day. The day is observed annually on October 27 to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
The occasion commemorates the arrival of Indian troops in Srinagar on October 27, 1947. Pakistan observes the day to remember the event and highlight the Kashmir dispute.
As part of this year’s activities, authorities displayed solidarity messages and decorations across key locations in Islamabad. Constitution Avenue and D-Chowk were among the main areas featuring these displays.
A solidarity walk was also held along Constitution Avenue. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar addressed participants at D-Chowk during the event.
The celebrations aimed to highlight Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people. However, the incorrect crescent and star design on the displayed Pakistani flags raised concerns about the preparation of national symbols.
Official Flag Design and Public Displays
Pakistan’s national flag consists of a dark green field and a white vertical stripe. The green section contains a white crescent and a five-pointed star.
The crescent must open toward the upper right, with the star positioned between its pointed ends. These elements form an important part of the flag’s official design.
The flags displayed in Islamabad differed from this arrangement. The visible error raised questions about the attention given to national symbols during public events.
The incident highlights the importance of checking flag designs before displaying them at official ceremonies. Proper attention to national symbols helps ensure they are represented accurately, particularly during major national observances.
