Islamabad Police registered 132 sexual assault cases and 709 kidnapping cases across the federal capital during the first nine months of 2026. The cases were recorded between January 1 and September 30, according to reported police data.
Soan Zone recorded the highest number of incidents in both categories, highlighting the scale of reported crimes across different parts of the capital. The figures include cases involving women, girls and boys, while individual incidents remain subject to police investigations and legal proceedings.
Soan Zone Reports the Highest Number of Sexual Assault Cases
According to the reported figures, Soan Zone recorded 40 sexual assault cases during the nine-month period. Saddar Zone followed with 32 cases, while Rural Zone reported 25.
Industrial Area Zone recorded 20 cases, and City Zone reported 15. Together, the figures account for the 132 cases registered across the capital.
The police records included allegations of rape, gang rape and other sexual offences involving women, girls and boys. The reported cases were registered under several provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
These included 46 cases under Section 376, nine under Section 375-A, and other cases under Sections 376-A, 376-B, 376-C, 377 and 377-B. The sections cover different sexual offences, and the registration of a case does not by itself establish guilt.
Kidnapping Cases Reach 709
Kidnapping cases were considerably higher during the same period, with Islamabad Police registering 709 cases.
Soan Zone recorded the highest number at 200 cases, followed by Rural Zone with 185 and Saddar Zone with 181. Industrial Area Zone reported 72 cases, while City Zone recorded 71.
The reported data showed that 341 cases were registered under Section 365-B, involving 347 girls. Another 175 cases were registered under Section 365.
Police also registered 116 cases under Section 496-A. These cases involved 119 women, nine girls and one boy, according to the reported figures.
Abduction and Sexual Assault Incidents Reported
The figures also included several serious incidents. In one case, a man was reportedly abducted from outside his home in Islamabad’s F-6/1 sector and later found murdered in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In another incident, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped in Gangal while returning home from work. According to police sources, several suspects took her to a nearby wooded area, where the assault allegedly occurred before they fled.
The woman was taken to a hospital for a medico-legal examination. Reports said police delayed registering the case while awaiting the medical report. An FIR was eventually registered under Section 376 of the PPC but was reportedly sealed on the instructions of senior officers.
The circumstances surrounding the handling of the case, including the reported delay and sealing of the FIR, require clarification from the relevant authorities.
Crime Figures Highlight Public Safety Concerns
The reported statistics provide an overview of sexual assault and kidnapping cases registered in Islamabad during the first nine months of 2026. Soan Zone recorded the highest numbers in both categories, followed by other zones with varying totals.
The figures represent registered cases and do not necessarily reflect every incident that may have occurred. Further information about investigations, arrests, prosecutions and case outcomes would be needed to assess the wider situation.
