KARACHI – Iqrar-ul-Hassan, a senior Pakistani anchor and investigative journalist, has officially stepped down from ARY News, ending a remarkable 21-year-long journey with the network.
Iqrar-ul-Hassan began his media career as a news anchor at ARY News during a time when the channel operated from the UAE. Over the years, he became one of the most prominent figures in Pakistani journalism, gaining nationwide recognition through his popular investigative show “Sar-e-Aam.” The program earned widespread attention for uncovering corruption, exposing institutional flaws, and highlighting public issues across the country.
Recently, Iqrar-ul-Hassan entered the political arena by launching his own party, Awam Raj Party. This new direction played a major role in his decision to leave journalism. In his official statement, he shared that he faced a difficult choice between continuing his long-standing media career or dedicating himself fully to his political mission. He ultimately chose to pursue politics, marking a significant shift in his professional life.
Back in 2016, Iqrar and his Sar-e-Aam team made headlines after being arrested on the orders of the Sindh Home Minister. The action followed a controversial investigation in which the team exposed major security flaws within the Sindh Assembly by successfully bringing an armed individual inside using official media passes.
Throughout his career, Iqrar-ul-Hassan became known for his bold undercover sting operations targeting various sectors, including factories, restaurants, and law enforcement agencies. His work often revealed corruption, bribery, and food safety violations, earning him both praise for courage and criticism for his aggressive reporting style.
Apart from his professional life, his personal life has also attracted public attention. He has been married three times, first to journalist Qurat-ul-Ain Hassan in 2005, then to Farah Yousuf in 2012, and later to Aroosa Khan in 2023.
