IESCO will carry out system maintenance across its service areas under its Annual System Maintenance Program for 2026-27. The maintenance activities are scheduled to run from October 15, 2026, to February 8, 2027.
The program will cover major electrical installations across the company’s distribution network. These include power transformers at more than 130 grid stations operating at 132 kilovolts (kV).
The work will also involve over 1,295 11kV feeders, transmission lines, and other electrical equipment. Electricity supply will be temporarily suspended on affected feeders while maintenance work is underway.
Consumers in the affected areas may experience scheduled power outages during this period. The timing of each shutdown will depend on the maintenance requirements and the relevant electrical installations.
IESCO Directs Departments to Inform Consumers
IESCO Chief Executive Officer Engr. Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood has issued instructions regarding the maintenance program. He directed the relevant departments to inform consumers before scheduled electricity shutdowns.
The advance notifications are intended to help residents and businesses prepare for temporary power interruptions. Consumers are advised to follow official announcements concerning maintenance work in their respective areas.
The chief executive has also instructed field teams to complete shutdowns within their approved time limits. Departments must ensure that maintenance activities follow established schedules.
These instructions aim to manage planned outages and limit unnecessary disruptions. Relevant teams are expected to coordinate their work according to the approved maintenance plan.
Safety Measures and Field Supervision
The company has emphasized compliance with safety procedures during maintenance activities. Staff must follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) while working on electrical equipment and installations.
Field officers have been directed to supervise maintenance operations. They must also ensure that staff remain present at their assigned locations throughout the work.
These measures are intended to support safe working conditions and proper execution of maintenance tasks. Supervision will help ensure that teams follow the required procedures.
Maintenance Aims to Improve Electricity Supply
An IESCO spokesperson said the annual program would address technical issues across the distribution network. The maintenance work is also expected to improve overall system performance.
According to the spokesperson, the upgrades could make electricity supply more reliable, particularly during periods of peak demand. The company also expects the work to reduce technical faults and power tripping incidents.
Regular maintenance is an important part of keeping transformers, feeders, and transmission lines operational. Identifying and addressing technical problems can help reduce unexpected interruptions.
What Consumers Should Know
The maintenance program will continue through February 8, 2027. During this period, affected feeders may experience temporary electricity shutdowns to allow necessary work.
Consumers should check IESCO announcements for information about planned outages in their areas. Advance notifications can help households, businesses, and other electricity users plan around scheduled interruptions.
