How will the new tax regulations impact buyers of the Suzuki Cultus?

The Suzuki Cultus, a popular choice among budget-conscious urban commuters, is set to experience a substantial increase in its total cost due to newly introduced taxes by the Pakistani government. These updated vehicle tax regulations will affect both filers and non-filers purchasing this sought-after 1000cc car.

Despite a slight decline in popularity compared to previous models, the Suzuki Cultus remains a favorite for its compact design, practicality in city traffic, affordability, fuel efficiency, and low maintenance costs. It continues to be a preferred option for personal use and ride-hailing services such as Uber and Careem.

New Tax Implications

Under the new tax regime, buyers will face different tax brackets based on their filer status:

  • Cultus VXR: Priced at Rs 3,858,000, will incur an additional tax of Rs 38,580 for tax filers. Non-filers will face a higher additional tax of Rs 115,740.
  • Cultus VXL-AGS: Priced at Rs 4,546,000, will see an additional tax of Rs 45,460 for filers. Non-filers will need to pay an extra Rs 136,380, significantly increasing the overall cost.

The imposition of these taxes is aimed at encouraging broader tax compliance and alleviating financial pressure on the national treasury. Prospective buyers are advised to factor in these additional costs when budgeting for their new Suzuki Cultus.
