Hindu extremist ‘Cow Vigilantes’ beats a muslim man to death in India

The so-called image of India as a democratic and tolerant society was shattered once more when a mob of Hindu fundamentalist ‘cow vigilantes’ beat to death a Muslim man in Maharashtra’s Nashik area on suspicion of importing beef.

According to NDTV, the victim, Afan Ansari, 32, of Mumbai’s Kurla neighbourhood, was accompanied by his associate Nasir Sheikh.

According to the story, two men were driving meat in a car when they were stopped and assaulted by the so-called vigilantes.

The victims were brought to a local hospital for medical treatment following the attack. Sadly, despite obtaining care, one of them died as a result of their injuries.

“When we arrived, we discovered the car was damaged. “We admitted the injured men to a nearby hospital, where one of them died,” said sub-inspector Sunil Bhamre.

So far, ten persons have been arrested in connection with the case.

We have registered a case of murder and rioting on the complaint of the injured person and are investigating it, police stated. They said that whether they were transporting beef or not will be determined only after the lab report is received.

Cows are revered in Hinduism, and since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, Hindu nationalists have increased their attacks on Muslim livestock owners.

Most Indian states have outlawed cow slaughter and have strict restrictions in place for slaughtering cows.

Many killings in the name of cow protection have occurred in India, with several of them apparently arranged by right-wing organisations affiliated to the ruling BJP party.
