Former PM Imran Khan Arrested in GHQ Gate Attack Case

Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan has been taken into custody in connection with the May 9 attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the Pakistan Army. Currently, Imran Khan is held in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail under judicial remand in two National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references. Release orders for him in the cipher case were issued on Monday.

Officially, Imran Khan has now been arrested in the GHQ attack case, being named as an accused in all cases related to the May 9, 2023, incidents.

Anti-terrorism court judge Malik Ijaz Asif arrived at Adiala Jail to preside over the GHQ gate attack case against Imran Khan. The hearing for another case linked to the May 9 incidents, registered at Waris Khan police station, is also scheduled to take place in the jail.

Investigation officers of the May 9 incident cases are present at Adiala Jail, intending to brief the judge on the investigation report and Imran Khan’s role in the cases.

In a parallel development, Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, faced indictment in the Toshakhana case. The indictment hearing, conducted by accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir at Adiala Jail on Tuesday, saw both suspects pleading not guilty. The court has summoned 12 witnesses from the defense side.

Furthermore, the suspects are anticipated to be indicted in the 190 million pounds Al-Qadir Trust case during the upcoming hearing.
