Ex-CJP Jillani Abstains From Leading IHC Probe

Former Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, designated to lead the investigation into the letter from six Islamabad High Court judges, has cited personal commitments as the reason for his inability to carry out the task. Media outlets reported that Justice (retired) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani conveyed his decision to the Prime Minister in a letter, suggesting that it would be more suitable for the Chief Justice to address the matter at the institutional level.

In his communication with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Justice Jillani expressed his gratitude for the confidence placed in him by both the Prime Minister and the Cabinet. However, he explained his decision not to head the commission, citing personal engagements. He also extended his appreciation to Chief Justice and Senior Judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
