China has issued a stern warning to nations participating in trade negotiations with the United States, urging them not to trade away their interests for exemptions from American tariffs. The move comes amid intensified pressure from Washington on global partners to align with its trade strategy against Beijing.
A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce criticized efforts by the US to coax countries into restricting trade with China in return for temporary tariff relief. “Appeasement cannot bring peace, and compromise cannot earn respect,” the spokesperson said, warning that countries siding with the US could face consequences.

Beijing has threatened reciprocal countermeasures against any nation whose trade deals with the US negatively affect China, highlighting the strategic stakes involved. With tariffs between the two superpowers as high as 145% on certain goods, the global trade climate remains volatile.
Nations like Japan and South Korea, deeply tied to both economies, are under mounting pressure to maintain balance. China’s warning underscores the wider implications of the US-China trade war, not just for the two giants, but for the global economy as a whole.
