Bangladesh has moved closer to acquiring Chinese J-10CE fighter jets. The planned purchase could strengthen the country’s air force capabilities.
According to Bloomberg, Bangladesh has completed a draft agreement for the purchase. The information was shared by Zahed Ur Rahman during a media briefing in Dhaka.
Ur Rahman serves as Adviser to the Prime Minister for Policy, Strategy and Information. He said the draft agreement has already been prepared for the proposed acquisition.
The J-10CE is China’s export version of the J-10C multirole fighter. The aircraft is designed for several types of combat missions.
It can perform both air-to-air and air-to-ground operations. The fighter also includes modern radar and electronic warfare systems.
The aircraft can carry advanced air-to-air missiles. These features have increased interest among countries seeking to modernize their air forces.
Why Bangladesh Is Considering the J-10CE
Bangladesh has reportedly examined the aircraft’s performance during the May 2025 military confrontation. The encounter involved Pakistan and India.
