Amitabh Bachchan Reveals Surprising Link to Saif Ali Khan

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was left surprised after Amitabh Bachchan revealed an unexpected family connection between them during an appearance on the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).

Saif appeared on the show alongside Akshay Kumar to promote their upcoming crime thriller Haiwaan when Amitabh Bachchan revealed that the two actors are connected through their families.

“Many people don’t know this, but he is related to me,” Bachchan said while referring to Saif.

The revelation caught Saif off guard, while Akshay Kumar and the KBC audience also appeared surprised by the unexpected connection.

How Saif and Amitabh Are Connected

The connection between Saif Ali Khan and Amitabh Bachchan comes through the Kapoor and Bachchan families.

Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritu Kapoor is the mother of Nikhil Nanda, who is married to Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Bachchan.

Saif Ali Khan, meanwhile, is married to Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is the daughter of Raj Kapoor’s son Randhir Kapoor and actress Babita.

As a result, Kareena Kapoor and Nikhil Nanda are first cousins.

Through his marriage to Kareena, Saif is connected to the Kapoor family, while Nikhil Nanda’s marriage to Shweta Bachchan links that extended family network to the Bachchan family.

The complicated family connection became a light-hearted moment on KBC when Bachchan explained the relationship to Saif.

Bachchan Puts Saif on the Spot

After explaining the family connection, Amitabh Bachchan turned the situation into another humorous moment by asking Saif how he should address Kareena.

“So, now I want to know, how should I address Kareena? What will Kareena call me?” Bachchan asked.

Saif responded jokingly, “Thank god that’s not a question on KBC screen,” prompting laughter from Bachchan and Akshay.

The exchange added a playful element to the episode and highlighted how interconnected some of Bollywood’s leading families have become through generations of marriages and relationships.

Saif and Akshay Promote Haiwaan

The unexpected family revelation came during Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar’s joint appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati to promote their upcoming film Haiwaan.

Directed by Priyadarshan, the crime thriller is scheduled to release on September 11.

The movie is based on Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam film Oppam, which starred Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal.

The Hindi adaptation features a large ensemble cast, including Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher and Rajpal Yadav. The film’s music has been composed by Pritam.

The KBC appearance therefore combined film promotion with entertainment, trivia and humour, while also giving viewers an unexpected glimpse into the complicated family relationships within Bollywood.

Amitabh and Kareena Have Worked Together

The connection between Amitabh Bachchan and the Kapoor family is not limited to their personal family links.

Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor have also shared the screen on several occasions.

The two actors appeared together in the popular family drama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001. They later worked together in Dev in 2004 and Satyagraha in 2013.

These collaborations have added another professional link between the two families, alongside their existing relationships through marriage.

Amitabh and Saif’s Film Connection

Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan have also worked together professionally.

The two actors appeared in Eklavya: The Royal Guard in 2007 and later shared the screen in Aarakshan in 2011.

Their professional association adds another layer to the relationship revealed during the KBC episode.

The latest exchange showed how Bollywood connections can extend across multiple generations, with professional collaborations often overlapping with family relationships.

Bollywood’s Interconnected Families

The Hindi film industry has long been known for its prominent film families, many of which are connected through both professional collaborations and marriages.

The Kapoor family is among the most prominent examples, with several generations of actors and filmmakers contributing to Indian cinema.

The Bachchan family has also remained one of Bollywood’s best-known entertainment dynasties.

Other major film families, including the Salim Khan family and several South Indian cinema dynasties, have developed their own networks through marriages, professional partnerships and family connections.

These relationships have helped create an extensive network within the Indian entertainment industry, sometimes making family connections difficult for audiences to follow.

Saif Ali Khan’s surprise on KBC offered a humorous example of just how complicated those connections can become.
