A man identified as Tayyab, described by authorities as Punjab’s largest ice dealer, was killed during an encounter in Faisalabad.
The encounter involved officials from the Counter Corruption Department (CCD). Three alleged accomplices reportedly escaped from the scene following an exchange of fire.
According to initial details, CCD officials signaled four suspicious men riding a motorcycle to stop at a checkpoint near Bahadurwala Bridge.
The suspects allegedly opened fire after being signaled to stop. Officials then returned fire, leading to an exchange between the two sides.
Tayyab was killed during the encounter. His three unidentified associates reportedly managed to escape and fled the area.
Authorities later recovered a large quantity of drugs from the deceased suspect. Officials said the seized drugs were worth millions of rupees.
The recovered substances reportedly included 34 kilograms of ice, commonly known as crystal methamphetamine. Officials also recovered 20 kilograms of opium and 14 kilograms of hashish.
The large quantity of narcotics has raised concerns about the scale of the alleged drug network operating in Faisalabad.
According to the initial investigation, Tayyab allegedly operated an organized drug supply network across the city. Authorities claimed that women were allegedly used to supply drugs to students at educational institutions.
The investigation is now being expanded to identify other members of the alleged network. Officials said Tayyab’s brother, Waqas, was also allegedly involved in the operation.
Authorities have launched raids to locate and arrest Waqas. A search operation is also underway for the three unidentified suspects who reportedly escaped after the encounter.
Officials are expected to investigate the alleged supply chain and identify people connected with the network. Investigators may also examine how the drugs were transported and distributed across the city.
The case comes as authorities continue efforts to tackle drug trafficking near educational institutions. Drug abuse among young people has remained a major concern for law enforcement agencies.
The reported recovery of 34 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine has added to concerns about the availability of dangerous drugs in the region.
Authorities have not yet announced arrests of the three fleeing suspects. Their identities are also yet to be officially confirmed.
Further action is expected as investigators continue raids and gather evidence about the alleged network. Authorities will also determine the role of other suspected individuals during the investigation.
The allegations against the suspects remain subject to investigation. Any individuals arrested in connection with the case will face legal proceedings based on the evidence collected by authorities.
