Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, has been arrested in Lahore.
The arrest took place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, according to multiple reports.
According to the TV channel report provided, Aleema Khan had left her home for the gym. Police reportedly arrested her while she was leaving the residence.
Initial reports did not provide further details about the circumstances of her arrest.
The arrest comes ahead of a planned PTI protest march on September 27. The party has said the march will seek Imran Khan’s release.
Lahore’s district administration has ordered Aleema Khan’s detention for 30 days. The order was issued under the Maintenance of Public Order law.
Authorities cited concerns related to public safety in the detention order. The development has occurred amid increased political activity surrounding PTI’s planned march.
Aleema Khan and her two sisters had recently faced restrictions at Adiala Jail. They had attempted to meet Imran Khan but were not allowed to enter.
On September 15, the three sisters were reportedly stopped at a checkpoint outside Adiala Jail. Aleema Khan later staged a sit-in with a small group of PTI workers.
The sisters had also previously announced changes to their visits to the jail.
Aleema Khan said only the three sisters would visit Imran Khan in the future. She also said party workers would not be called to gather outside the jail.
Dawn reported on September 16 that Aleema Khan and her sisters had again been denied a meeting with Imran Khan. The report said six lawyers were also present at the jail.
The latest arrest also follows earlier legal proceedings involving Aleema Khan.
In July, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad declared Aleema Khan and her sister Uzma Khan proclaimed offenders. The case relates to an October 4 protest.
The court also issued perpetual arrest warrants for both sisters, according to the information provided.
The current detention has added another development to the ongoing political situation surrounding PTI.
PTI has criticized the arrest, while government authorities have cited public safety concerns. These positions represent the respective claims of the parties involved.
The planned September 27 march remains a key upcoming political event. Authorities have also been preparing security arrangements ahead of political gatherings.
Aleema Khan’s arrest comes one week before the scheduled PTI march. Her detention is therefore taking place during a period of increased political activity.
The case may also lead to further legal proceedings concerning the detention order. Details about the next legal steps were not immediately available.
