The gathering took place at the Bacha Khan Center in Peshawar and saw the attendance of council members nationwide, along with other members of the Central Election Commission. Mian Iftikhar Hussain, the chairman of the Central Election Commission, presided over the meeting.

Former Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti proposed Senator Aimal Wali Khan’s candidacy for the central presidency, which received unanimous approval from all council members present.
Senator Aimal Wali Khan’s election as the central president of the Awami National Party was confirmed during the meeting, with unanimous support from the council.
It’s noteworthy that Aimal’s father, Asfandyar Wali Khan, previously held the position of party president. However, he did not contest in the February 8 general elections.
