CCD Proposes Rs47.5 Million in Rewards for Teams Tackling Gang Crime

The City Crime Division (CCD) has proposed a reward scheme totaling Rs47.5 million for law enforcement teams that successfully eliminate organized gangs involved in criminal activities. The initiative aims to boost morale and incentivize proactive policing.

According to officials, the rewards will be distributed among police units based on the significance and impact of their operations against gang networks. The proposal highlights the government’s focus on reducing urban crime and ensuring public safety.

Authorities emphasized that organized gangs pose serious threats to law and order, engaging in activities such as extortion, robbery, and illegal arms trade. The reward plan is expected to encourage intelligence-led operations and swift action.

The CCD added that transparency and proper documentation will guide the disbursement of funds to ensure accountability. Senior officials also stressed that the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen policing in major cities.

Law enforcement experts welcomed the move, saying incentives can motivate teams to tackle high-risk operations, though they noted the importance of proper checks to prevent misuse of funds.

The proposal is now under review by relevant authorities, and a formal approval is expected soon to implement the reward scheme nationwide.
