Maryam Wattoo, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, has raised concerns over the former first lady’s reported conditions in jail, alleging that she has faced health issues and poor living conditions during her detention.
Speaking to a private television channel, Maryam Wattoo claimed that Bushra Bibi experienced serious difficulties while in custody. She alleged that her sister suffered electric shocks on two occasions due to faulty electrical fixtures inside her prison cell during rainfall.
Wattoo also claimed that Bushra Bibi developed a serious eye problem while in jail and requested medical treatment but did not receive immediate attention. She alleged that delays in medical care worsened her condition.
She further criticized the reported condition of the prison cell, alleging that it lacked basic facilities, including proper ventilation and air conditioning. According to Wattoo, Bushra Bibi told her that rats had fallen on her while she was offering prayers inside the cell.
Maryam Wattoo questioned the treatment being given to her sister and urged authorities to improve prison conditions. She also called on human rights organizations to take notice of the allegations and ensure that detainees receive appropriate facilities and medical care.
The claims were made by Maryam Wattoo during the interview and have not been independently verified. No official response from prison authorities or the government had been issued regarding the allegations at the time of reporting.
